My Story in a Nutshell
(the emphasis is on Nut)
I am a native Texan. I grew up in Dallas and went to public school. My father passed away when I was 13. I rely on my best friend from high school for those early memories. All I remember is I could have been voted "“The Most Unknown Person” in high school. I went on to graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in secondary education. I met my first husband (my first EX husband) during college and we married when we were 25. I became an Institutional equity stock trader. I jokingly refer to my career as being a professional gambler dealing in organized crime. Needless to say I enjoyed my career but my marriage of 13 years ended. It sure was a short forever... I was single for a short while when a friend became more than a friend and as they say “the rest is history”. Jay and I struggled with infertility for several years. When I was 40 we decided we should seek medical help with conceiving. (I will talk about our struggle with infertility in another post.) By age 45 my eggs were hard boiled. This necessitated trying in vitro fertilization. On our third attempt Jay and I, ages 50 and 45 respectively, became pregnant with triplets. It was so much fun to tell people we were pregnant and it was triplets… Our infamous statement was “we don’t know what one child is like so three will seem normal”. I am surprised no one ever laughed in our faces… What a wonderful adventure we began. My pregnancy was ok; I was placed on bed rest at home at 5 months and was in the hospital for about a month. The triplets were born at 30 weeks. I think 32 weeks is considered term for multiples. We were very lucky the triplets were all about 3 pounds and healthy. They were in the NICU for a little over a month. Hannah came home first around 5 weeks, Sam followed in another week and Nick came home at 9 weeks and our world was changed forever. We settled into life with babies.
Stay tuned for further adventures.
